Some time ago we reviewed the excellent movie archive, Climax Corner. For just $9.95 you got a very decent collection of adult movies in a easy to use interface and a pleasant design. The good news, for anyone who enjoys movie sites, is that Climax Corner has evolved! A brand new interface, loads of superb new movies and the same good value as before.

Content
The main changes to the old Climax Corner site, is the unique interface used to select the clips you want to download. Its really clever and makes selecting just the clips you want to view very easy indeed. In addition there are now over 250 Full Length DVD’s, and the guys are adding one whole new DVD every single day! Their are also new categories, and advanced search features to make finding movies you like much easier than before.

Video’s
This is not a site which features low quality movies. The stuff here is top notch, ripped from DVD’s and as such the visual quality is fantastic. The only problem with this is of course the fact that these movies are large. But anyone with a decent broadband connection should have no problems. The range is excellent. The site conveniently splits itself out by Niche, so you get a long list of topics to choose from down the side, including Amateur, Anal, Asian, BBW, BDSM, Big Boobs and so on. There are around 40 different niches to choose from!

You can also find movies using 3 other methods.
1. Choose by the studio who produced it (useful if you like one movie and want to find movies made by the same guys).
2. Choose by Series. Many DVD’s come in series format, for example Chick Flick #1, Chick Flick #2 etc.
3. Choose by Star. See a girl you like, and find all her movies quickly and easily!

You can now add movies into your Favorites, or simply just view all the scenes in one long (very long) list.

The final question you are all asking no doubt is what are the movies like. Well, in a word, Fantastic. Being ripped from DVD’s, you cannot complain about quality, it is spot on. The range is superb, they have done a great job of making sure there is something for everyone.

We have to take our hats off to the people at VideoBox. When we first reviewed this site in 2003 (it was then known as ClimaxCorner) we gave it our highest ranking and named it the best site of 2003. Since then they've managed to hold the line on price--an amazing $9.95 a month--and improved in almost every respect. We're really impressed. They took a great site and made it better.

The first thing we noticed when we dropped in this time was that they changed the download interface. Why? As we said in our previous review, "This is the best video download interface we've ever seen." Why fix it if it wasn't broke?

To make it better. It was great before, but it's fucking wonderful now. Every scene is broken down into a page of sequential thumbnails. To download a clip from the scene of any size you just drag the thumbnail from where you want the clip to begin and then drag another thumbnail from where you want it to end. Once you do that you get updated information on the video size and running time of the download you've selected. Amazing. You could just play with functionality like that all day.

Next improvement: They're adding more content. One full DVD is going up every day. At the time of our visit they had 271 DVDs up. So think about it: That's 300 DVDs (if you were to join now) for $10!

And you're not losing on video quality either. You can download in three formats, low, medium and high-res Windows Media files. Because the low-res really does suck, and because the download selector lets you choose your own clip sizes to download, this actually makes the site very modem-friendly. But the rest of the civilized world will be able to grab the high-res clips which playback at 480x352 and 900 kb/s. Maybe not the very best out there, but still well above average (and the equal of most other good video networks).

More kudos: The site has great search functionality, solid support and an impressive editorial presence. They don't just quote blurbs from the back of the video box. Someone is actually writing original scene descriptions. And it's not just the usual shit. They can even be critical.

For this low monthly rate it seems a bit ungrateful for us to complain about anything, but we'll try. The classification scheme wasn't the greatest. "Features" seemed an elastic category, while "Hardcore" is so broad as to be almost useless. Of course you know there's nothing exclusive. (But will it be long before some of these bigger networks start producing stuff in-house? We wonder.). In addition, the majority of the content is still "Gonzo" amateur and semi-amateur stuff. Now that's typical of most video networks. A lot of the big studios are nervous about licensing their content out. It's something you have to keep in mind. But since you can browse through all of heir movies on the tour, there's no excuse for not knowing what you're getting here.

I love reviewing sites like this. Nothing’s worse than dealing with sites laden with links to outside content and dubious bonus content. At videobox.com there are no such attempts to pad or fill-out the site with annoying extras. The site specializes in one thing and one thing only: downloadable video content. More enticing yet is the price tag. At only $9.95/month for unlimited downloads, this one looks like a winner.

As of mid-February 2005, the site is offering 259 full DVD conversions, containing more than 1500 individual scenes. Each film is identified by a number of categories, and browsing by category is a breeze. Addition, adult series and studios can be browsed via handy drop-down windows. Overall, the site has good ergonomics and spares members undue clicking around to access content.

Queuing films for download is a relatively simple affair at videobox.com as well. The site offers a choice of three video qualities, giving even dial-up users a chance to take advantage of the nearly unparalleled value. I’m often annoyed at what passes as “dvd-quality” video on adult sites, but here I was impressed by both the overall compression standard for high-rez flics and the total lack of inflated claims and sales pitches. All the h.q. films I downloaded were encoded as windows media videos and played back at resolutions between 700 and 1000kb/s. Films are divided by scene, however, so using a download manager is recommended. I found myself limited to two simultaneous downloads from the videobox server but was pleased to find that I could still navigate the site unhindered while doing so.

It’s hard to generalize about the nature or quality of the films on offer at videobox.com. There are enough little niches represented to appeal to a wide-range of smut surfers, but on the whole the site leans toward straight-up-the-middle hardcore with a strong emphasis on anal. While there are a number of feature films offered and categories such as femdom, amateur, and fetish are included, potential members should expect a relatively meat-and-potatoes approach to adult content. Big name models and studios prevail.

Unless you’re set on original content or looking for something softer, there’s little likelihood of regretting your $10 membership to videobox.com. Other big video download sites may offer a greater range of content, but in terms of quality and quantity for your buck, this one sets a new standard.
